I have never, in my 16 years of life, met quite an individual. Never, ever, have I wasted so many words, and emotions and energy on a human being... ever. Never. With of course, the exception.

 

Pretending like it's all okay? That'll get you far.

You'll avoid the faces, you'll avoid the eyes

The ones filled with everything they're burning to say.

 

Don't match their gaze, don't own up to yourself

Don't let be the "man" you made yourself seem as

When you winked and laughed and joked and whispered

 

Don't stand infront of that friend,

And tell her everything you'd kept inside.

That you were persuaded, that you were confused,

What you were feeling.

Don't tell her your true emotions, even though she shamelessly poured out hers

Don't let her stay within the walls you'd randomly built

When she made the exception and broke hers

 

Don't stand infront of your girlfriend,

And tell her your feelings changed.

Don't tell her that you questioned yourself, that you weren't ready for her

Don't tell her that she gave up someone that loved her more than anything

Forget about what you put her through, and the risk she made for you

Don't bother trying to explain, or talking to either of them

Don't worry about their emotions

You're the hot shot, you make the calls, you break the hearts

 

Don't try and remember all the things that man has done for you

Don't think about the brotherly friendship you had, and all the ways he's been there for you

Neglect the thoughts of his loyalty and care

Don't tell him the truth, or think he deserves anything from you

You’re the big guy, you’re the real man

And he can just be the butts of your jokes

 

Don’t pretend you had nothing to do with their break-up

Don’t even think about trying to explain yourself

Don’t care or worry about her best friend’s heart

Her best friend’s feelings… tell your buddy he’s better off without her

Set the example you’ve made define you so well

 

  

But don't look us in the eyes when you're drowning in your ditch

Don’t come running when you see that no one’s there to dig you out

Don’t spill out excuses and pleads, don’t ask for forgiveness when you’re everything but

Sincere.

Don’t tell her you miss her and don’t want to loose her

Don’t ask her to be your friend to hold on to when the going gets tough

Don’t pretend to care for him, and put him down the second you’ve turned to walk away

Don't smile at us when you see the amazing things we have, and realize you're not longer part of it, that it’s better without you

 

Don’t give them what they’ve given you.
